THE POCKET HYMNBOOK / 0.2.3

Press PLAY
to pray.

Four voices. One small miracle. Your hands complete the choir.

01 / Lower your worldly volume

Start with the master volume and headphones or speakers low. Raise them gently. Even a saint can summon a surprisingly loud note.

02 / Meet Evening Vow

On a fresh session, press PLAY. The pad enters first, the sequence follows after two beats, and the arp after four. Track 4 is already selected: play the keyboard to answer the choir.

03 / Make yourself at home

Your restored session takes precedence at boot. Visiting Immaculate Permutation never replaces it. OCT+ asks for a new arrangement, so save any beloved sermon before you reveal another.

Evening Vow: A minor / 72 BPM / sixteen bars. Warm pad, bell sequence, string arp, and PHYS BOWED METAL waiting for your hands.

THE RITE OF IMMACULATE PERMUTATION

Let chance
join the choir.

The archangel of chance takes requests. Choose your rite, then reveal.

K1 KEYK2 SCALEK3 RITEK4 STIR

VIGIL: warm pads / HALO: glass and shimmer / REQUIEM: darker voices

Reveal / OCT+

Release held keyboard and MIDI notes, then press OCT+. A new in-key congregation replaces the current working project. While playing, a full reveal fades, changes and resumes; it is not a seamless evolution. If stopped, press PLAY to begin. Recording is disarmed.

Four tracks, four callings

T1 sustains the foundation. T2 carries the sequence. T3 lifts the chord arp. T4 stays unsequenced and ready for live playing. The panel keys follow the chosen scale; external MIDI players should keep their notes in that key themselves.

Leave the pulpit, return to the rite

Tap HOME or OCT- to leave Immaculate Permutation. Tap HOME through HOME, MIXER and CLOCK to return. On ordinary pages, ALGORITHM selects the track; Knobs 1-4 edit the four screen columns.

The four revelation knobs shape the next OCT+ result. Turning KEY alone does not retune the current arrangement.

A LITTLE FAITH, A LITTLE MOVEMENT

Keep the key.
Change the prayer.

For the sermon you love, evolution is gentler than revelation.

ENV + OCT+LFO + OCT+

Evolve / hold ENV + press OCT+

The backing notes find a fresh in-key progression while playback continues. Presets, rhythms, velocities, tempo and LFOs stay with you; track 4 remains yours. Notes already ringing carry on. The first three tracks must share a supported key and scale.

Bless / hold LFO + press OCT+

Add gentle ambient-friendly LFO movement to all four tracks: slow wandering pan, reverb or chorus. Key, notes and sounds stay in place. Evolution does not reroll this blessing. Both gestures also work on ordinary performance pages, away from menus and dialogs.

Let the liturgy turn itself

Hold HOME, choose SYSTEM > AUTO EVOLVE. Choose OFF, 2, 4, 8, 12, 16, 24 or 32 bars. Fresh sessions and factory reset start at 16 bars. Auto-evolve follows the playing clock; a bar is four beats.

The ear is the final congregation

Visit MIXER if a part whispers or overwhelms. Your level choices survive Evolve and the LFO blessing. On ordinary performance pages, OCT+ / OCT- shift only the selected track; press both to return its octave.

Minor, Dorian, Minor pentatonic and Major pentatonic all belong in this chapel. A little space between notes is a blessing.

PRESERVE YOUR SCRIPTURES

Keep the sermon.
Leave the reverb tail.

A revelation is fleeting. A saved project is a hymn you can return to.

HOLD SAVESESSION SAVED

Checkpoint / hold SAVE on Immaculate Permutation

Hold SAVE for a little over a second. Playback continues while the first empty A-D slot receives SERMON A-D. SAVING SESSION stays until completion; SESSION SAVED then shows for three seconds. Wait for it before switching off. Find the result under SAVE > PROJECT, in A-D. If all slots are full, choose a slot with K1, then OCT+ and confirm the overwrite. SESSION NOT SAVED means the sermon was not kept.

Undo / hold OCT- on Immaculate Permutation

Return to the previous revelation, evolution or LFO blessing. Release held notes first. If you have edited the result, the first hold warns; hold again to replace those edits. Undo makes a brief transition and resumes prior playback.

Return to Evening Vow

Save precious work first. Hold HOME > SYSTEM > FACTORY RESET, then press OCT+. At Return to Evening Vow?, OCT+ confirms and OCT- cancels. This replaces the unsaved session and resets common settings; saved projects, presets and samples remain.
